Dr. Mehmet Akif Cakmak is a plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon. He specializes in microsurgery, hand surgery and replantation, free-flap reconstruction, hepatic artery microanastomosis, rhinoplasty, and body contouring.
He worked at Atatürk University, Plastic Surgery, from 2012 to 2018. He served on the faculty from 2020 to 2022. He then worked at Clinicexpert (2022–2023) and Esterian Clinic (2023–2024). He holds certificates in Basic Hand Surgery (2016), Basic Microsurgery (2017), and Minimal Invasive Techniques (2017).
Key results include a 112-patient series on incomplete cleft palate. He performed free-flap repairs in 52 upper-extremity and 56 lower-extremity cases. He also reported a 10-case series on microvascular burn contracture. He performed hepatic artery microanastomosis in living-donor liver transplant.
