After he became a neurologist, he did 3,5 years of obligatory service for the gouvernment, first 1,5 years in military (Iskenderun Navy Hospital) and two more years in Diyarbakır Social Security Hospital. He returned to Istanbul University in 1989. He worked in the Mayo Clinic Rochester Minnesota U.S.A. during 1990 - 1991 on Demantia and Behavioural neurology subjects.

He became an Associate Professor in 1994 and continued working in Istanbul University until 1999. Between 1999 - 2002, he worked at the Kadir Has University and also Florence Nightingale Hospital.

He served in the Faculty executive committee of Kadir Has University during 1999 - 2000 and became a professor in 2000. Following that, worked in the Kozyatağı Hospital between 2004 - 2013.

Professor Dr. Wolfgang Gstoettner is a leading specialist in ear, nose, and throat (ENT) medicine. He is the Head of the University Hospital ENT Clinic at the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Selahattin Tugrul is an experienced ENT Professor with more than 30 years in Otorhinolaryngology. He earned his Doctorate and Medical Specialty at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. This education gave him a strong foundation in medicine.

Dr O'Connor is the President of the Spanish Commission of the Spanish Society of Respiratory Disorders. He is also a member of the European Sleep Research, the American Otorhinolaryngology Academy, the Spanish Otorhinolaryngology Society, Ibero-American Otorhinolaryngology Society and Andalusian Otorhinolaryngology Society.
