Professional education 

Dr. Filipek is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Academy in Krakow, where he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1977, in 1980 he obtained the first degree of specialization in general surgery, and in 1986 the second degree in urology. In 1999 he obtained the degree of doctor of medical sciences. 

Professional experience 

Dr. n. med. Marek Filipek serves as the Head of the Urology Department of the Independent Specialist Western Hospital in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. He created from scratch one of the most modern and best equipped urology departments in Poland. For many years, Dr. Filipek was associated with the Urology Clinic of the Jagiellonian University Medical College, where he worked as a senior assistant and lecturer. In the years 2000-2006, he was the head of the Urology Department of the St. Luke Provincial Hospital in Tarnów.

He participated in many scientific and advanced courses. He spent internships and scholarships in many prestigious foreign urology centers, including the Professor F. Debruyne Urology Clinic in Nijmegen. In 2014, Dr. Filipek completed training in Focal-One HIFU, with Dr. Albert Gelet, at the Hospices Civils de Lyon Edouard Herriot Hospital, in Lyon, France. In the same year, in April, the doctor also participated in the course of the European School of Urology “Focal therapy in prostate cancer” in Stockholm. 

Scientific activity

Dr. n. med. Marek Filipek is a member of the Polish Urological Society (in 1997 he was the Vice-President of the Krakow Branch of the PTU). He is also a full member of the European Urological Society. He has also been awarded many times for his scientific activity and achievements in the field of urology (winner of, among others, the 1st PTU award and the Prof. Zew Wajsman award). The scientific achievements of Dr. n. med. Marek Filipek include several dozen publications and papers presented at Polish and foreign congresses and conferences. He is the author of over 30 publications and papers published, among others, in Urologia Polska or presented at the congresses of the Polish Urological Society and the European Urological Society. He has also participated in international, multi-center clinical trials many times. Every year Dr. Filipek also participates in the meetings of the American Urological Association.

Dr. Ozkan Onuk is a skilled urologist with expertise in urooncology, endourology, female urology, andrology, laparoscopic surgery, pediatric urology, and incontinence. He is known for performing complex procedures such as nephrectomy, robotic da Vinci prostatectomy, bladder removal, and vasectomy.

Dr. Onuk earned his medical degree and MSc from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his Ph.D. in Urology at Taksim E.A.H. In 2020, he became an Associate Professor at New Century University. He has a strong academic background and extensive surgical experience, especially in minimally invasive and robotic urological surgeries.

The Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital Urology Unit deals with the study, diagnosis and treatment of the conditions affecting the urinary system, the suprarenal glands and the retroperitoneum of both male and female patients, as well as the male reproductive system.

The team of experts and the nursing team in this Unit have vast expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of the various pathologies treated by this speciality.

We cover all the medical, preventative and surgical aspects in order to offer early detection, an adequate diagnosis and an accurate treatment. Our main objective is to offer the highest quality in humane treatment and scientific knowledge with a clear and decisive vocation of patient service.

The Urology Unit performs its activities at the A&E Unit (helping with any urologic emergency 24 hours a day and 365 days a year) and at the Outpatient Consultations Unit (helping patients with an appointment from Monday to Friday, morning and afternoon)

Education and Experience

Dr. Ramazan Gökhan Atış, born in Istanbul in 1978, graduated from Cağaloğlu Anatolian High School in 1996. He completed his medical education at Çapa Faculty of Medicine in 2002. Between 2002 and 2008, he received his specialization training at the Istanbul Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital Department of Urology, and obtained the title of Urology Specialist in February 2008. After working at Edremit Military Hospital between 2008 and 2009, he started working as a Urology specialist at Istanbul Göztepe Training and Research Hospital in 2009. In 2011, he underwent a 3-month Laparoscopy-Robotic Urology training at Heidelberg University Heillbronn Clinic. Between 2009 and 2014, he conducted numerous scientific research studies, especially in the field of endourology, and obtained the title of Associate Professor in September 2014. In 2017, he was elected as a board member of the Endourology Society and has been serving in this position since then. Since 2018, he has been actively involved in the Endourology working group of the European Association of Urology, Young Academic Urologists (EAU-YAU) Committee for a period of 2 years. In January 2021, he was appointed as a Professor at the Istanbul Medeniyet University Department of Urology.After that started working at Şişli Memorial Hospital in 2022. Dr. Caterina Lania is a consultant in Andrology and Urology at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. She focuses on diagnosing and treating urogenital conditions in both men and women. Her areas of expertise include infertility, impotence, bladder tumors, and genital disorders, whether congenital or acquired.

Dr. Lania graduated from the University of Milan. She has published over 150 scientific articles. She is also active in laboratory research on genitourinary diseases. Dr. Lania regularly takes part in national and international medical congresses, showing her dedication to professional growth.

Dr. Alessandro Calarco is a skilled urologist with expertise in minimally invasive and endourological procedures. He performs percutaneous lithotripsy, ureterorenoscopy, tumor ablation, and advanced reconstructive surgeries. Dr. Calarco has received international recognition for his clinical work and research. He completed advanced training in Sweden and the UK.

Dr. Calarco graduated with top honors from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome. He completed his Urology specialization and earned a PhD in Oncological Urology at the same university. His research focuses on prostate cancer biomarkers and exosomes. He has also helped develop clinical protocols for hormone-refractory prostate cancer.

He serves as National Head of Urology for SPIGC and is a member of the European Board of Urology. Dr. Calarco holds an international patent for a device that improves percutaneous nephrolithotripsy. He has published extensively and received several awards for surgical innovation and education.

Prof. Dr. M. İhsan Karaman is a urologic surgeon and professor. He specializes in prostate growth, prostate cancer, urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, kidney stone disease, male infertility, and pediatric urology. He works as a Consultant Surgeon in pediatric urology. He has served as Chief of the Urology Clinic at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital. He was also President of Istanbul Medeniyet University.

Dr. Karaman has published over 300 academic papers. He has edited scientific books on prostate cancer and pediatric urology. His work has been cited internationally more than 1,000 times. He is a founding member of the Turkish Society for Pediatric Urology and the Eurasian Urooncological Association. He serves on the Scientific Programme Council of the Société Internationale d'Urologie. He is accredited by several international medical associations and has organized major medical congresses.

Prof. Dr. Fatih Kurtuluş is a leading urologist and a Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU). He earned his medical degree from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1997. He specializes in endourology and urooncology. He received advanced training at IRCAD Strasbourg and gained international experience at Heidelberg University and Milan San Raffaele IRCCS Hospital.

He became a professor in 2018. He has received several awards, including the 2015 Urooncology Research Award. He also won best oral presentation at the AUA Congress in 2008 and the EAU Congress in 2009. Dr. Kurtuluş has published widely in international journals. He is an active member of the EAU, Endourological Society, Turkish Association of Urology, and Urooncology Association.
