Cancer Center

The Center includes Onco-Gynecology, Radiation and Surgical Oncology Departments. Over 5,500 patients receive treatment here annually. Doctors conduct 40 bone marrow transplant procedures and 500 robotic surgeries on the neck each year.

In 2015, the Department received the award for technological innovations from Frost and Sullivan international company.

Doctors specialize in the treatment of:

Cancer treatment options at Fortis:

  • traditional and minimally invasive removal of tumors. Doctors perform minimally invasive surgeries through small 5-6 cm incisions. The recovery period after such procedures is 2 times shorter in comparison with the traditional surgery.
  • Robotic surgery of neoplasms using Da Vinci robot. Robotic operations are carried out through 8 mm incisions. The hospitalization period after the surgery takes 1-2 days, and complete recovery — up to 10 days.
  • Chemo- and targeted therapy. Chemo drugs destroy fast-growing cancer cells but influence the healthy ones. The targeted drugs destroy only malignant tissues without damaging the healthy ones.
  • Radiotherapy on IMRT, IGRT, and VMAT technologies. IMRT is an intensity-modulated radiation therapy. It allows directing a high dose of irradiation to the tumor without damaging surrounding tissues. IGRT is an image-guided radiation therapy. Doctors apply IGRT to influence the hard-to-reach neoplasms. VMAT technology is the most state-of-the-art radiation therapy technique. It influences only the tumor with 1 mm accuracy; the healthy tissues are not damaged.

Organ Transplant Center

Doctors of the Center conduct the cornea, heart, lung, liver, and kidney transplants.

 

Cornea transplant

 

 

Surgeons transplant donor and artificial corneas. Doctors apply minimally invasive techniques — DALK and DMEK. Using DALK (deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty), doctors replace the front corneal layer through the small incision. During DMEK (descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty) process, they replace only affected internal layer.

 

 

Heart-lung transplant

 

 

Heart-lung transplant is conducted for patients with ischemic disease, cardiomyopathy, valvular disease.

 

Doctors of the Department are among the first ones in India who have performed the heart-lung transplant.

 

Kidney transplant

 

 

Surgeons at Fortis carry out laparoscopic kidney transplant through up to 7 cm incision. Transplant procedure is conducted according to the international protocols. After the operation, a patient recovers in the sterile ward to avoid complications.

 

 

Liver transplant

 

 

Doctors of the Department have performed over 2,500 liver transplants. Surgeons have over 17 years of experience in this field.

Neurology Department

The Department includes 3 subdivisions: Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuroradiology. Treatment of the brain and spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles is performed here.

Neurologists specialize in the treatment of cerebral hemorrhage, paralytic disorders, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and sleeping disorders.

Neurosurgeons carry out the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the brain and spinal cord. They use the most advanced methods:

  • Intraoperative neuromonitoring. Doctors use it to control the brain condition during the operation.
  • Powerful microscope to make the precise movements.
  • Neuronavigation. A neurosurgeon operates accurately and does not damage surrounding tissues.

 

Neuroradiologists remove neoplasm of the brain, spinal cord, head and neck using stereotactic radiosurgery. This method does not need any skin incisions. The device influences a tumor with a high dose of radiation and does not damage healthy cells.

 

Cardiology Department

 

The Department includes the subdivisions of Heart Anesthesia, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery. Doctors specialize in the treatment of ischemic heart disease, aortic aneurysm, heart failure, valve correction and replacement, heart transplant.

Doctors of the Interventional Cardiology Department perform the catheter diagnostics and operations. All manipulations are carried out using a thin tube (catheter) which is inserted in the femoral or inguinal arteries. No incisions are necessary, so postoperative recovery takes 1-2 days.

Cardiac surgeons perform open, minimally invasive and robotic interventions on the heart and vessels:

  • minimally invasive procedures are carried out through the small 5-6 cm incisions. If there are no complications, a patient is discharged from the Fortis Gurgaon Hospital in 3-4 days after the surgery.
  • Robotic interventions on the heart are conducted through several 1 cm openings. Using the robot for cardiac surgery, the success rate of the operation increases. The movements of the device are precise and almost exclude any error.

I came here for my sister's treatment, we came in emergency during early morning and after an hour they advised to admit her which we did.. after two days when we went through discharge process and saw the bill we were surprised.. They charged for bed which is fine but alongwith that there were separately added common items charges, bed linen charges, support services charges, medical history assessment charges and to my surprise since we were admitted to hospital before 11 am that was somewhere around 4 am - we were charged two times one is for before 11 am and one is for after 11 am.. we requested for taking the payment for one and half time but they denied stating hospital billing policies. Also, there were nursing charges added for each day so accordingly I should be expecting some decent level of service but you keep calling them for some help like changing IV bottles or asking about medication or just a small thing like where is the switch to turn off the lights but they keep pushing you and ultimately they respond as if we need to be grateful for them to do so. If you have lot of money then go ahead for this hospital but make sure you have no expectations towards good service. I am sure we are not lacking with good doctors in our country so I will never be visiting here again. And yes, this 1 star is just for the doctor as he was good in his work.

My nephew urgently needed to see the paediatric nephrologist. The hospital gave the parents an appointment, took payment, and confirmed the booking. On reaching the doctor said they were on leave. It is criminal that an unwell child's precious time was wasted like this despite all the technology at the hospital's disposal.

At an overall level,pathetic experience with service standard lower than local cheap hospital. Summary is as below: Admission experience: It took 14 hrs to get bed in the hospital after multiple follow ups.While I understand there were lot of patients, there is major communication gap within the team working there. Nursing services- Very unprofessional. Everytime a request was raised, the team took lot of time to acknowledge the request. At night, there were limited staff, that too trainees, who had no idea what to do. I was not given discharge summary during discharge. Had to run myself to get a copy of it. Room Experience- Pathetic as leakage issued in washroom got rectified after 6 days Dietician and canteen- No coordination among them. An example- Dietician asked to avoid papaya for my kid. Same was sent in the meal. While I am satisfied with doctor professionalism and treatment, overall experience is not at all good. Would not recommend anyone. Further, I am sure team won't do anything with this feedback. I just want other people not to suffer as I did. So I have posted it here. Please choose wisely, it's about your health.

If one can define nightmare it could be defined as my stay at fortis. Distressful and distasteful. Mr Rajiv kapur, Mr Narendra and Mr sunny , 3 of the most disrespectful managerial staff. First one the GM who feels 2 am drilling and construction is okay on legal and humanitarian ground. Mr Narendra could do with a training to speak to women. And Mr sunny needs to understand if you work in an establishment it is not personal. Patient go to him not to built personal relationships but because he represents the organisation that he works for. He avoids taking ownership. I doubt if he is even capable of holding the post he is at .

Kegagalan layanan dan pelecehan di Fortis Hospital — perawatan yang buruk Saya mengunjungi Fortis Hospital di Mulund, Mumbai dua kali saat saya tinggal di Nahur, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400078. Saya datang karena tempat itu hanya berjarak 1 km dari lokasi saya. Saya mengalami pengalaman yang mengerikan dan tidak menyenangkan dua kali — selama Mei/Juni dan Desember 2203 — serta saat panggilan tindak lanjut untuk klaim pada Januari 2024. Layanannya buruk dan stafnya sangat tidak sopan, termasuk dokter-dokter yang sangat arogan. Saya pribadi jauh lebih berkualifikasi dibanding dokter-dokter di sana, karena saya punya pendidikan, bekerja, dan melakukan riset di seluruh dunia di berbagai negara yang tersebar di berbagai benua seperti India, Korea Selatan, AS, Inggris, Brasil, Mesir, dll. Saya percaya dokter yang waras dan berpengalaman akan terlebih dahulu mendengarkan pasien dengan saksama dan riwayat medis pasien apa pun termasuk perawatan sebelumnya, gejala, efek samping, dan kerentanan pasien. Namun ketika saya menjelaskan hal itu kepada dokter ini — dokter jantung — Dr Mitul, dia menghina saya dengan mengatakan bahwa saya adalah seorang dokter, bukan sebaliknya. Saya merasa terhina karena saya sendiri jauh lebih berpengalaman darinya dan seharusnya dia lebih sabar. Kemudian saya mengalami nyeri dada yang terus-menerus dan harus mengunjungi bagian emergency dari Fortis Hospital yang sama. Mereka hampir tidak melakukan pemeriksaan menyeluruh dengan resep yang tidak memadai, dan sebagai tambahan, mereka membuat tagihan yang sangat besar hanya dalam 1 jam saya berada di sana. Mereka sama sekali tidak responsif ketika saya meminta agar saya bisa dipulangkan lebih cepat, karena saya tidak didiagnosis dengan apa pun yang serius dan dokter itu sendiri mengatakan bahwa saya tidak memiliki masalah berat yang mengancam nyawa, tetapi mereka menunda kepulangan saya supaya mereka bisa membuat tagihan yang “tebal” dan besar. Saya terus mengejar rumah sakit melalui telepon, tetapi mereka tidak responsif selama 1 bulan, dan saya merasa dilecehkan karena butuh tiga jam bagi saya untuk mengulang kisah yang sama tentang mendapatkan klarifikasi mengenai “nomor invoice” kepada lebih dari 10 staf di call center. Call center membuat saya MENUNGGU dalam waktu lama dan memindahkan saya ke departemen yang berbeda, dan tidak ada yang memberikan respons yang memadai. Pengalaman yang luar biasa. Stafnya sangat baik, sangat berpengetahuan, dan sangat ramah. Ada perbedaan besar antara Fortis dan rumah sakit lainnya. Di rumah sakit lain, Anda harus menunggu antrean panjang di resepsionis dan menunggu ketersediaan dokter, tetapi di rumah sakit Fortis ada banyak loket untuk pengunjung dan dokter selalu tersedia. Stafnya juga sangat kooperatif. Fortis menyelamatkan banyak nyawa; beberapa orang yang tidak punya uang, Fortis juga menyelamatkan nyawanya tanpa membayar biaya apa pun. Fortis juga membuka toko medis/ apotek di dalam rumah sakit mereka agar pasien bisa mendapatkan obat segera.
