The Trust is a union of the English hospitals of:
- Royal Brompton Hospital
- Harefield Hospital.
The Trust cooperates with the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College. The College is world's top 10 universities of excellence in research and teaching.The artificial heart implant program is one of the world’s strongest one.
Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust in numbers per year:
- over 40,000 inpatients
- 200,000 outpatients
- over 10,000 congenital heart disease
- 4,500 patients involved in research
- 2,800 performed angiograms
- 1,800 performed thoracic surgeries
- 2,300 angioplastісs

The Fund is a pioneer in heart and lung treatment. It is the 1st to provide:
- primary angioplasty for heart attack
- Tendyne transcatheter mitral valve system implant for the treatment of mitral regurgitation - in the world.
The technical equipment at the Center is up-to-date. The blood lab is the most advanced in Europe. The Hospitals also have a remote-controlled robot to provide 3D mapping. This type of model helps to treat patients with atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias with maximal possible accuracy.
The Transplant Unit is one of the most experienced in the UK. It is the 1st medical institution where innovative Organ Care system for heart-lung transplant was taken as a standard.

Just had a lung resection done, stayed in Alex ward. All the staff were exceptional and made my stay as comfortable as possible. The doctors and nurses were always on hand to answer questions and special mention to Charmine, Rafael and Luca who went above and beyond to help. The food was definately 10/10 and Rose who served us was lovely. I cant recommend this hospital highly enough and would trust them with my life.

I saw Dr Kouranos and Dr Sharma who were both brilliant and very patient centred; my journey started with Dr Kouranos who then referred me to Dr Sharma. I’m very indebted to both for their professional and compassionate care, also also to the rest of the ILD, Sarcoidosis and Cardiac Team as well as the wonderful PALS community. Your the Best

I just had an open heart surgery with the doctor Petru and his team.
The surgery and the anaesthetic went perfectly.
The recovery team and the food was amazing.
I can say the Italian nurse Perlina was exceptional. Perlina does her job with empathy and with an optimism that she transmits to you seamlessly.
Thank you so much Perlina, keep doing what you’re doing because you do it amazing.
The pre assessment for the surgery was also very good. Valentino was amazing. Very helpful and new his job perfectly

Great value for money and understanding staff disbite some confusion. We were really stressed and they stayed calm even when we didn't. Rooms had a mini fridge and a decent shower and TV for the price and location!

I've had 4 major & complex heart surgeries at the Royal Brompton since I was born almost 30 years ago. There cardiac care and expertise is outstanding as well as their pregnancy cardiac care. Brilliant doctors, I certainly wouldn't be here today without them saving my life :)
