Professor Hwang Sung-joo is Director of the Hair Transplant Center at Myongji Hospital. He is an internationally recognized hair restoration surgeon with more than 30 years of experience. He performs FUT, FUE, and complex repair procedures. He has transplanted about 50 million hairs.
He was the first Korean President of the ISHRS. He founded and led the Asian and Korean hair restoration surgery societies. He received the ISHRS Platinum Follicle Award. He developed DCT (Depth Controlled Transplantation) and an implantation device to improve graft survival. He performed Korea’s first sister-to-sister hair transplant after bone marrow transplantation in 2005, and a mother-to-daughter transplant in 2025. He wrote a Korean textbook and co-wrote U.S. and Asian texts.
Professor Kim Hyun-hoe is a urologic cancer surgeon. He specializes in prostate and kidney cancer and robotic surgery. He directs Myongji Hospital’s Robotic Surgery Center and the Prostate & Kidney Cancer Center. He performed Korea’s first single-incision laparoscopy. At SNUH, he led more than 2,300 da Vinci cases over five years. He now uses the da Vinci Xi system.
He holds an MD, MS, and PhD from Seoul National University. He is a former director of SNUH Robotic Surgery and the Urology/Prostate Cancer Center. He is a past president of the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics. He is a council member of the Korean Urological Association. His awards include the WCE Best Laparoscopy/Robotic Paper and the KUA Best Paper. He has also received several national academic honors. He contributes to next‑generation da Vinci research with Seoul National University and Intuitive Surgical. This was the first such collaboration in Asia.
Professor Kim Jong-yeon is a gastroenterologist at Myongji Hospital. He treats diseases of the esophagus, stomach, colon, and liver, including cirrhosis and hepatitis. He performs therapeutic endoscopy, such as endoscopic polypectomy. He also serves as Deputy Director of the International Healthcare Center.
He is a member of the Liver Failure Center. He works with teams in hepatology, liver cancer, and transplantation to provide coordinated care for advanced liver disease and for transplant candidates.
