Head of the Breast Surgery Department, Mammologist

Dr. Hana Golan, MD, heads the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Division at Sheba Medical Center. She specializes in childhood cancers, with a focus on neuroblastoma and other high-risk solid tumors.

She leads one of the region’s most advanced pediatric oncology programs. She manages complex, high-risk cases and practices at a hospital ranked in the global top 10.

She is the principal investigator of the High-Risk Neuroblastoma ESIOP protocol. She serves as an investigator in international Phase I/II trials and as the national coordinator of multicenter oncology protocols. She led the development of computerized chemotherapy protocols and patient databases to improve safety.

She earned her MD from the Technion. She completed residencies in pediatrics and pediatric hemato-oncology at Sheba. She conducted advanced research in transplantation immunology at the Weizmann Institute. She is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. She is a Senior Lecturer at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. Her research focuses on cancer stem cells, targeted therapies, treatment-resistant malignancies, and cannabinoid-related oncology.

Gynecologist, Specialist in endoscopic and laparoscopic operations

Dr. Boaz Liberman, MD, is an orthopedic oncologist and sarcoma surgeon for adults and children. He directs the Orthopedic Oncology Unit and serves as Vice Head of Orthopedic Surgery at Sheba Medical Center. His focus is limb-sparing cancer surgery with functional reconstruction. He performs complex joint reconstruction, revision arthroplasty, MRgFUS, and reconstruction after bone metastases.

Education and training: MD, Tel Aviv University. Orthopedic surgery residency, Sheba Medical Center. Fellowships in Adult Reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, and in Orthopedic Oncology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery and in Orthopedic Oncology Surgery. He is a Clinical Instructor at Tel Aviv University. Memberships include the Israel Medical Association, Israel Orthopedic Association, AATB, and EATB. He also serves on national advisory committees. His research covers bone and soft tissue sarcomas, serum markers, imaging-guided therapies, MRI arthrography, and the biomechanics of bone treated with MRgFUS.

Dr. Iris Kventsel, MD, is a pediatric hemato-oncologist and bone marrow transplant (BMT) specialist at Sheba Medical Center. She is an attending physician in the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology and BMT Division at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital. Her clinical focus is pediatric sarcomas, including Ewing sarcoma, osteosarcoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma.

She provides multidisciplinary care, including transplant and cellular therapies. She also uses current chemotherapy protocols and targeted therapies for complex childhood cancers.

Her research focuses on genetic cancer predisposition, including Li-Fraumeni syndrome, and cancer susceptibility genes. She has published in pediatric oncology, stem cell biology, and surgical oncology (HIPEC). She is on the academic staff at Tel Aviv University. Dr. Eytan Aharon Ben‑Ami, MD, is a Senior Physician in the Sarcoma and Bone Oncology Service at Sheba Medical Center. He heads the Oncology Division and the Early-Phase Clinical Trials Unit. He founded the Sheba Clinical Research Organization. He is an academic affiliate at Tel Aviv University.

He specializes in sarcomas and primary bone tumors, including soft tissue sarcoma, liposarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, and osteosarcoma. He leads Phase I trials in targeted therapy and immunotherapy. He designs personalized treatment plans for rare cancers. He also develops patient-centered programs, including pilots in advanced immunotherapy delivery.

He completed a fellowship in Sarcoma and Bone Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Cancer Center. He has authored more than 40 publications on early detection, molecular and viral mechanisms, and new cancer therapies.

Dr. Yaacov Lawrence, MA, MBBS, MRCP, is Chair of Radiation Oncology at Sheba Medical Center. He has nearly 30 years of experience in precision radiation oncology and neuro-oncology.

He is an expert in advanced radiation therapy and radiosurgery. He performs stereotactic radiosurgery for brain tumors. He leads Sheba’s GI Cancer Program in gastrointestinal oncology. He also provides precision care for lung and prostate cancers. He pioneered celiac plexus radiosurgery for severe pain from pancreatic cancer.

Training and credentials: MA and MBBS (Cambridge and UCLH); MRCP (RCP); Radiation Oncology fellowship (Thomas Jefferson University). Honors include the ASCO Young Investigator Award and Fellow of ASTRO (FASTRO). He has authored over 280 publications. He is Director of the Center for Translational Radiation Oncology and an Associate Professor at Tel Aviv University.

Dr. Son Dong Wan, MD, PhD, is the Chief of Urology at Naeun Hospital. He specializes in urologic oncology, urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, and laser prostate surgery. He performs robotic and laparoscopic surgery for cancers of the prostate, bladder, ureter, and kidney. He also treats ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction.

He earned his PhD from Pusan National University. He completed his internship and residency at Pusan National University Hospital. He is a former Chief at Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital. He served as a Professor at the Catholic University College of Medicine. He was a Clinical Fellow at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He completed training in urinary incontinence surgery at the University of Liège.

Awards include the Excellent Paper Award (2007) and the Academic Achievement Award (2014) from the Korean Continence Society. He also received the Best Poster Award from the European Association of Urology (2013).

Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department

Asist. Prof. Dr. Paul Stanciu is a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon and subspecialist in Gynaecological Oncology and Robotic Surgery. He has worked in Germany, Ireland, and the UK, including at The Royal Marsden Hospital.

He is the first gynaecologist worldwide accredited by SERGS to operate on two robotic platforms. He is among the few who perform complex minimally invasive procedures, including surgery for endometriosis and fertility-sparing surgery for young cancer patients.

His expertise includes the surgical treatment of benign and malignant gynaecological conditions. He is experienced in advanced laparoscopic surgery and uses innovative techniques published internationally.

Dr. Stanciu is the author or co-author of many scientific articles. He has delivered over 100 presentations at national and international conferences. He holds certifications from SERGS, ESGO, BSCCP, and IOTA, and is an active member of major professional societies.

Dr. Muhammed Mustafa Atci is an Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at İstinye University, Liv Hospital Topkapı (2025–present). He previously served as Associate Professor and Education Coordinator at Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu City Hospital (2023–2025). He was also a Medical Oncologist there (2018–2021).

He has been a member of ASCO and the Turkish Society of Medical Oncology since 2018. He is the author or co-author of 19 peer-reviewed international papers on colon, breast, gastric, pancreatic, lung, thyroid, sarcoma, and colorectal cancers.

Notable works include a multicentre study on stage IIB colon cancer survival (Journal of Chemotherapy). He also studied the De Ritis ratio for lung metastasis in testicular cancer (Current Urology). His prognostic studies used PET/CT, MSI, lymph node ratio, and metabolic tumor volume.

Dr. Zuhal Cakmak Peksen is a Family Medicine Specialist since 2017. She earned her MD from Çukurova University in 2010. She completed specialty training at Yüzüncü Yıl University between 2013 and 2017. She is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in Health Management at Anadolu University (2024–present).

She has 15 years of clinical practice (2010–2025) across 8 institutions. Her experience includes research in Family Medicine (2013–2017) and work at several Family Health Centers. Since 2020, she has served at TOKİ Avrupa Family Health Center in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul.

Dr. César Lévano Linares is a specialist in general and digestive surgery. He works at Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital and Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital. He is recognized for his work in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

He holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Madrid. He completed a master’s in colorectal and pelvic floor surgery at the University of Zaragoza. He also holds a diploma in laparoscopic surgery from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg. He has European accreditation in laparoscopic surgery (EACCME).

Dr. Shady Mohammed El‑sebai is an interventional radiologist and diagnostic imaging consultant. He is the Consultant and Chief of Interventional Radiology at Sheaf El Orman Oncology Hospital (2021–present). He is also Chief of the Interventional Radiology Unit at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University (2022–present). He has been a Lecturer in interventional radiology at the National Cancer Institute since 2018. Earlier posts include assistant lecturer and specialist, radiology resident, specialist at Khartoum Breast Care Centre, and specialist and consultant at Techno Scan.

Expertise includes CT‑ and US‑guided true‑cut biopsies and FNAC; transarterial chemoembolization for HCC and for liver, renal, and soft‑tissue tumors; percutaneous nephrostomy and ureteric stents; pigtail drainage; and RF or microwave ablation of hepatic, bone, lung, and thyroid lesions. He also performs PTD and biliary stents; uterine artery embolization; coiling for pelvic varicosities and varicocele; varicose vein ablation and sclerotherapy; and breast procedures (biopsy, markers, wire localization, Mammotome). He is skilled in US, CT, and MRI.
